Cakes and Beyond

Welcome! I'm posting on this page all the cakes & desserts that I've created. All of my cakes are homemade, covered in homemade buttercream frosting, and decorated with homemade marshmallow fondant, almond and chocolate flavored (This is fondant that you will actually want to eat). I have several cake flavors and am always looking for new flavors to try. Quality is the most important thing to me in my cakes - I won't make something that tastes bad just to look good and neither will I make something that tastes good but is boring.

Feel free to browse and click the contact button to email me if you want a cake!

30th Island Cake

Happy Birthday to my hubby Ben! As you can tell from the cake, he turned 30 this year. One of my favorite things to do in cake decorating is to pull together not only what the cake is celebrating but WHO the cake is celebrating. I think this cake describes my husband pretty well. This cake definitely has a lot in it, so I'll just describe it as we go. The cake is marble with miniature chocolate chips & almond buttercream frosting YUM (and we still have some left in the fridge, hmm... wait here just a minute..... nice, cake on plate, fork in hand & ready to blog!).

Up close shot of the beach scene & palm tree. The green & purple beach towels represent Ben & I. The four little ones represent our kids, 3 pinks and a blue (poor guy is outnumbered). :-) The "sand" is an organic sugar I had on hand, and once again everything on my cakes is completely edible.

Ben is a runner, so I made him some fondant Nike shoes that match his actual running shoes. The times on the road are the marathons that he's completed and his goal of 3:10:59 that is yet to be passed (but he's on his way!)

This scene is based off of Ben's tattoo, representing what's most important to him. The word is greek for "grace".

Finally just an up close shot of the fondant waves & rocks. I'm thrilled with how this cake turned out & am looking forward to continuing to create more fun cakes. Watch for another cake coming up for my daughter's birthday at the beginning of June. After that I'm free, so let me know if you're wanting a cake!
